In the Press

A bit after the fact, but the reporter who interviewed me for the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Show emailed us all the articles he published about us in the Weekly Press. Just the excerpt on the part about yours truly:

"KYLIE ADAMS:....Printmaker Kylie Adams is a student at Tyler School of Art with three semesters to go before graduating.  "This will be my first time selling work at the Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show," said Adams. She has attended previous RSFAA shows, but in the capacity of the customer. "It will definitely be a change of pace, being on the opposite side of the table." Last semester, Adams took a printmaking workshop in Rome. "Rome made me appreciate the artwork that came before me. It was a great experience."

Festa di Roma/Catching up on life

As this past week has been a whirlwind of chaotic events, I didn't even get to tell everyone that the Festa di Roma show was opening last Wednesday, October 1 in the Tyler Gallery at Tyler School of Art. It was a success, it was taken down early to accommodate a visiting artist. I had two books in the show; the first was a series of etching/aquatints with text captions, and the second was an EV of sorts, representing the prints in a collage/drawing format.

Hope everyone had a chance to see it; I didn't. Ha! I was at home, attending to much more important matters. I heard it was nice and well attended though, despite my own lack of attendence.

Now I'm back in Mount Airy, getting caught up; to do this week includes two papers, one journal, the EV of a print that I just finished (and HATE, hence the EV-ing of it), 8-10 bowls thrown on the wheel, start of the pronto plate project, and a grant proposal... which sounds like a lot, but isn't really more than usual. Its just super compressed. I don't know WHAT  I will do with myself when I'm not a student anymore.

New Work: Lithographs

Hello all,

As following my current themes of work, I created my first lithograph of the semester; it focuses on mainly themes of neglect and absence within the urban landscape. The negative and positive space is reversed, emphasizing on emptiness.

Surprisingly enough... the print turned out! I'm definitely not historically a successful lithographer, so I'm quite pleased.
